the derwent art prize

i was DRAWN to this (hehehe) i was drawn to this because pencil drawing is the strongest skill i have with in my practice i tend to not use pencil drawings now as i'm trying to challenge my self and that my work now is on a different direction. iv missed drawing in pencil. its comes easy to me drawing life like drawings, i risk very little and  its so nice to be able to sit down and watch things come to life on paper. when i saw this one at first i wasn't too sure because its not really my profestional practise anymore and it would be playing it safe to do this, but then i saw a challenge init. what if i drew this on huge paper, what if i drew a huge concept piece? what if i drew a huge concept piece in realism? what if i drew a huge concept piece realistically with real sight composition? or what if i did all that but not of a concept piece but from a photo graph? a chocolate box drawing? 

 is this more of a challenge now? either way im excited to start this one. 

drawing it wont be hard at all i think the research and the prep for the drawing will be the challenging side of it. finding what to draw and keeping that inspiration alive for around a week to finish the creation of it...its easy for me to get super hyped about a project get stuck in and then when i start to final piece i think of something else and i lose interests on it.

im not sure if this is my substantial brief or not. because i could do a weeks research and development and have a nice little body of research and then be ready to draw the final pice or i could start the project and fall in love with an idea that is inspired with in 24 hours. im not going to say what kind of brief this is im just going to let it happen and see what it turns out like i down want  to ruin this and give it the title of a big or small brief... 

im just going to let inspiration control this one and create somthing nice and high quality drawing.
to spark the inspiration im going to take my camara out into the city and take some photos, 

time to get the old faithfuls out. 

so my next step is to get out anc collect a load of images, collect screen shots, images from posters quotes..what ever it is that makes me go oooo. anything to make a spark happen.

basicly draw anything you like at any scale and it can not be anything else apart from pencil media.
