orchard pig development

i chose this brief because its intresting and seemed the most engaging ycn brief. the fact that they wanted bold fun images full of personality. also i like th fact they wanted to keep it ankered home! somthing i take pride in my self. 

i was slighly concerended about teaming up with someone else, but when i met cal and checked out his work i knew we could work well together. 

when we met up for the first time cal explined he need to make an animation for this brief, i agreed his animation skills would be wasted if we didnt use them, we spoke about me making the character design and maybe the story boards. i was concerned about my level of animation...i say level i mean none excitant level. i wouldnt be able to help cal at all with the work i was scared that it would be all left to him, a heavey work load wouldnt be fare so i made a qucik plan of action for me and cal so we got an understanding of were we stood. 

were treating this brief as if orchard pig is our boss. the boss has hired an illustrator and hired an animator.

after rerading the brief more i had decided that we should create beer matts and a flow plate and towels. i feel thats what the brief is asking for. 

i met up with cal for a lunch and a pint just to get an understanding of his work and ideas and a opportunity to give him my ideas also. we agreed with the plan i made BUT only the rolls. we both agrreed to leave each others work alone not to step on each others toes...we can have input on the work and give suggestions but he leaves me with the illustrations and i leave him with the animation. 

so our plan of action from the meal was to meet up again and talk about style and what can will influence our work. cal suggested that he will send me some rough drawings of what he had in mind for his animation and i take it from there.

   SECOND MEETING 

cal hadn't fetched any drawings but he told fetch some really good ideas for the style and the ideas he was thinking about. cal has in mind. we discussed the tasks for each other to get the ball rolling. as an animator cals job is to story board and research location and roughs ideas for his animation. as im the illustrator my task to disign the characters, characters clothing, characters personality through image, and finaly the colour sheme.

i came back with a few notes just summing up what it is we are actuily doing for this briefing. 

the animation is to be used to adverise the products we created to pull new punters. a new look for the flow to get more atraction.

personality will set the tome well.with in the animation pigs farting out products such as beer mats ect, personality in the pigs.

style- peper pig - adverts on e4 - solid positive colours.
cal likes the idea of using a style near the pepper pig kids tv show and likek a cut out style such as south park. becase the company have openly said they like to mock them selfs and like a sense of homer we decided to play on that and use characters in the animation with exprestion. i decided to make the expresstion like south park.

i dont know how to blog that ive just watched 4 episodes of pepper pig for research but i have, whilst drinking a few orchard pig ciders...even with the ciders the program didnt get any better. south park was fun though. 

i aim to create a body of work that experimants with the look of a character. i want to start with the very form of a pig and push it in two directions first i will remove elements from the pigs form and the other i will  egsadurate it. when we decided on a characeter style ill push this forword with style and colour. ill also have a few slide of the personality of the characters faces
