.composition and working in frame
- elephant
- butterfy
- me
our task was to explore frame with composition. whilst working with a frame i learnt that using a frame right is just as important as showing the level of craft in your work. the frame can be just as expressive as any other media. the right frame with the right subject can create the mood and give real character to the piece. working with in frame gives you the understanding of the area you have to work with in, if you have the mood and expression in mind that you want to bring across in your piece, you can experiment with that in making roughs of different frames and composition. getting the right frame for your expression.
to get the best results for the picture i created a story. the story was me walking down a jungle path and coming across a elephant and a butterfly, the challenge was how can the two relate. i made it up that the two was playing. and i would be in the distance watching.
the next challange was what would the best composition be to show that story, and what frame would work with the composition and story.
i drew the elephant from my head, it wasn't too long ago that i did a day studying and drawing elephants so it was still fresh in my mind. i drew this elephant with a playful dog in mind, i wanted that expression that a dog does when there playing with something new in the yard.
i enjoyed working in ink and washes you can create a nice tone and textures that express detail and depth.
