Studio practice - extended practice briefing notes 

  • Be a nice dude, this industry isn't all about the level of craft it's about being friendly so people want to work with you! 
  • Create a professional identity 
  • Work with a level or respect and integrity
  • how do you tern student work to professional work
  • know what you want to do, have a connection to people who work in your practice, questions that drive your practice, independence 
  • it's not the grade level it's what you do with the things you learnt from your practice 
  • the people you meet, the places you go, what you experience is what drives your practice - yeah grades are nice but they don't give you a career.
  • Contact the studios that relate to my practice 
  • Decision  like we're do you want to work (from home, in a studio) were and how do you want to live will direct your decision 
  • cop needs to be the priority. Closer dead line - manage the time - ppp under pin cop.

  • look at last years extended practice blogs 
  • Be clear what is your work and what is others... if you make mistake and present work that isn't yours will be seen as plagiarism
  • Have a detailed subject knowledge. As well as the content - research elements looking back at things you came across last year and bring them forward just record it properly. 
  • Think about how the work is presented. Is it a professional level - presentation boards - visual quality - you can be presenting the best work but if the presentation of it is rubbish they won't want it.

  • statement of intent - what is this project for me - action plan. Sticking a steak in the ground and saying this is were it starts. What are you going to do when you come in on a day to day basis, and call your self an illustrator. 
  • 5 projects to start, consider approaches to briefs. - 52 weeks of freaks - inktober - illustration Friday - 
  • extended practice is about being an illustrator 
  • grab it, work on it, - 
  • arrive, unleash hell, leave! 
  • briefs should be something that you can explore, reflect were your interests are - tick of the things you don't want to do, and your left with what you want to do. 
  • Project reports. 
  • suggested to do at least one collaboration piece. I.e graphic designer to make them into a book or an animator to move the work.
